75 year old woman found murdered in Visakhapatnam

In a tragic news, a 75-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in East Point Colony, Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Ratna Bharati was staying alone on the ground floor with her daughter and son-in-law staying on the first floor, as reported by The Hindu.

According to ACP (East) A. Narasimha Murthy’s statement, the deceased was watching TV up to 10:30 pm last night before she fell asleep. This morning, her son-in-law found the doors of his mother-in-law’s house closed. He felt this was unusual as she would be awake by 5:30 am every day, and the doors of the house would be generally kept open.

Finding this suspicious, the son-in-law, along with the family dhobi, rushed to the back door of the house to find it open. As they went inside, they found Ratna Bharthi dead with her hands tied back with a saree, and mouth gagged with a lungi. It was also reported that one gold chain also found missing from the house.

“We have filed a case under murder for gain and probing that angle,” said Mr. Narasimha Murthy. The city‘s police are carrying investigation to gain further insights into the case.
