Visakhapatnam is fast emerging as a major tourist destination in India. The verdant greenery, the sparkling waters, and the bustling city sandwiched in between them have all proved to be prime sources of attraction to many tourists across the globe.
With an aim to develop the city’s tourism sector further, the government authorities have been introducing many exciting attractions and proposing newer concepts. Here are 5 such attractions that would turn into reality soon and are expected to bolster Visakhapatnam.
In what is likely to provide a major boost to the tourism sector in Visakhapatnam, a skydiving school might soon be set up in the city.
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation would be associating with the Rajasthan-based Aero Sports Adventure Club to set up a skydiving school at Rushikonda in Vizag. The school is expected to offer skydiving training to adventure junkies.
The Scuba Diving Academy at Chintapalli near Visakhapatnam city is expected to be operational from November this year, this academy has been set up by APTDC with the support of Livein Adventures.
Apart from seeing these wrecks situated at the site here, divers can also avail the unmatched experience of watching the spectacular underwater life. The waters are home to a vivid and vibrant aquatic species, including the critically endangered species of goliath grouper.
In what might add further to the city’s tourist attractions, a knife-shaped recreational park will soon be adorning Visakhapatnam. The park would be adjacent to the Dairy farm located on the city’s National Highway and will be constructed with an estimated amount of Rs 1 crore that would be invested by GVMC.
Reportedly, in addition to featuring multiple recreational facilities, the park will also have a walker’s track. Also, the rainwater flowing from the adjacent Sitakonda would be used to facilitate the place with a lake. The place would have a dedicated section for cultural activities as well.
The idea of a floating restaurant for tourism, proposed by the Union Shipping Minister, Nitin Gadkari, during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam might soon turn into reality. The Port Trust of the city is appointing an official to study the possibility of the project.
While the authorities said that they would seek an expression of interest and study similar models in other states, further updates on the same are awaited.
After receiving a lukewarm response to the heli-tourism last year, VUDA is likely to relaunch the services this year. The services would be commencing from October and are expected to continue till January next year. The move is aimed at cashing in on the tourist soon that would begin in October.
