Blazing a trail, it scripted a new chapter in the history of Telugu cinema in the late eighties. Filmmakers had started thinking outside the box after its roar at the box office.
‘Shiva’, the Nagarjuna–Amala starrer, which was released in 1989, drew audiences in droves to theatres, making cash registers ring louder.
Controversial director Ram Gopal Varma, who made his directorial debut with the film, kept the audience glued to their seats till the end, offering a thrilling experience.
The blockbuster, which had made such an impact on the audience, is all set for a grand re-release on 14 November, commemorating the 50 years of Annapurna Studios, owned by Nagarjuna.
Ahead of the re-release, a promotional drive has been launched to give wider publicity. As a part of it, the star couple have shared the Bigg Boss stage recently to repeat the dance for a hit number in the movie — ‘Botany pathamundi… matany atavundi…’ — to the thunderous applause of the ‘house’ inmates.
As the movie is being re-released in a new version of 4K Dolby Atmos, cine-goers are sure to have a whole new experience.
