30,562 Land Pattas Regularised in Visakhapatnam

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was in the city yesterday for the inauguration of the pylon for the first Test series in Andhra Pradesh. While here, he held an enormous public meeting for distribution of land pattas at the Andhra University Engineering College Grounds.

The state government had previously issued GO 296 to regularise non-objectionable government land beyond 100 sq yards that are occupied by people. Making his promise a reality, the CM distributed house land pattas to 30,562 women for non-objectionable government land below 100 sq yards free of cost. Rs 5000 crore worth occupied land in Visakhapatnam was regularised yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM stated that this move was historic for Telugu Desam Party as it managed to fulfil one of its important promises. The 30,562 beneficiaries were selected from 67,000 people who had applied seeking regularisation of encroached land. He appealed to the beneficiaries to not sell the regularised land as unlike the D-pattas, the present pattas are free for financial transaction. He asked them to wait for atleast two years before selling them off.

The CM lauded the effort the district administration of Visakhapatnam had put in. He had instructed all the district collectors in the state to work over the distribution of land pattas and Visakhapatnam managed to achieve the goal fast with the use of technology. The administration had opened 136 counters and engaged around 500 officials for hassle-free distribution of the land pattas yesterday.

3460 land pattas were distributed to people from the North constituency, 7040 from the West, 6473 from the East, 3828 from Bheemli, 3177 from Pendurthi and 6304 from Gajuwaka. The TDP government is also working on long pending issues in Visakhapatnam like the encroached land of Simhachalam temple and a few lands at Gajuwaka.
