Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed shock over the stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy temple at Kasibugga in Srikakulam district.
Terming the incident saddening, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved family members of those who died in the incident.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and an aid of Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
Meanwhile, State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, while expressing grief over the incident, ordered a probe into the incident.
