Visakhapatnam will soon be leading the way in promoting eco-friendly ways in transport. Reportedly, the city will be playing host to e-cars that will be replacing the government-hired conventional fuel vehicles in Andhra Pradesh.
While 300 vehicles are expected to be replaced in Visakhapatnam, Guntur, East Godavari, Vijayawada, by the next month, more e-cars are likely to adorn the state by February next year.
Earlier, it was reported that the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) agreed in principle to invest a whopping 10,250 crore in AP with Rs 2,000 crore to be invested per year for one lakh e-cars in Andhra Pradesh.
A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy, State Energy Conservation Mission CEO, had said the project is aimed at transforming the state into the country’s electric mobility hub.
With Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu stating his wish to see the state as a flourishing ground for electric vehicles, the state government has brought in Electric Mobility Policy 2018-23, in an attempt to encourage more individuals to go green in the coming days.
Earlier this year, the Chief Minister had also flagged off two e-cars at the CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam.
