In what have come as a recent development, Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor is all set to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy.
Apart from Baahubali 2, one movie that created a rage at the Telugu box office this year is Arjun Reddy. The movie emerged as a blockbuster and has widely been hailed as a gamechanger in Tollywood.
Arjun Reddy, which released in August, not only struck a chord with the local audiences but also caught the attention of movie enthusiasts all over the nation
Apart from a spellbinding performance by Vijay Devarakonda, who played the titular role, Arjun Reddy will also be remembered for its brilliant script supported by Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s bold narration.
After enjoying a dream run in the Telugu states, the movie is now all set to be remade into other languages. While Chiyaan Vikram’s son Dhruv is all set to don the titular role in Tamil, reports suggest that the Hindi remake will feature Shahid Kapoor as the lead.
An unverified source was quoted by The Quint as saying, “Director Sandeep Vanga was on board for the Hindi version of the film, since he owns the copyrights of all the remakes. For reasons best known to him, he wanted Ranveer Singh to play Arjun Reddy. But after Padmavati, Ranveer is voluntarily off-limits for dark characters. So Sandeep then went to Ranveer’s Padmavati co-star Shahid Kapoor for whom the role of the doped, drugged, drunken doctor Devdas would be an antithetical change after the noble royalty in Padmavati.”
