Andhra Pradesh netizens bring down BJP’s Facebook rating

National Party Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has had to face the wrath of angry netizens in Andhra Pradesh. The citizens who were unhappy with the centre’s allocation of funds to Andhra Pradesh in the recently announced Union Budget, have flooded BJP’s official Facebook page and lambasted the party with negative reviews.

As a part of a massive campaign fueled by anger and disappointment, innumerable netizens marked one star rating in the reviews section of the party’s FB page. The page, which had an average rating of 4.5 stars (out of 5 stars) on Friday evening, fell down to an average rating of 1.1 stars (out of 5 stars) by Sunday afternoon. Numbers showed that close to 30,000 people marked the one star as a display of their resentment against the centre.

Many people even left some comments showing their indignation at the “betrayal” handed over to them by the centre. “Dear BJP, just don’t blame Congress for the uneven bifurcation. People had punished them with a lifetime sentence. It’s gonna be your turn now (sic)”, wrote a user. “The BJP has become another Congress. I love Bharatiya Janata party and its policies but you have betrayed Andhra Pradesh (sic),” commented another. However, in an attempt to do the damage control, BJP has removed the review section from its page.

The Union Budget has been causing a huge turmoil in the state. Many leaders and citizens have criticized the centre for ignoring Andhra Pradesh.

In addition to the Special Railway Zone, the state government had also urged the centre to release funds for the purposes of Amaravati, Kadapa Steel Plant and a railway division for the stretch between Vijayawada and Guntakal. The centre, however, hasn’t allocated “sufficient funds” and the leaders feel, the Modi government has fallen short of fulfilling the promises made during the state bifurcation in 2014.
