Vigilance officials find restaurants serving stale food in Vizag

In an alarming wake of events, more restaurants have been found serving rotten and stale food in Vizag. The officials of the vigilance and enforcement department and food safety wing continued to crack the whip on restaurants and conducted raids at several eateries and kitchens in the city on Monday. Items like chicken joints, prawns, fish, mutton curry, and biryani were preserved in freezers to serve the customers when an order is received.

As reported by Eenadu, the officials found that food safety norms were not being followed at Raju’s Kitchen at KRM Colony in Seethammadhara in the city. Reportedly, the officials observed the use of leftover rice, and unpermitted substances, including monosodium glutamate (tasting salt) and food colours among others.
