Vizag’s ‘Soda Scooter’ to beat the heat this summer

“Vizag is fast emerging as a smart city and to keep up with its pace, I came up with a unique idea,” says Sanjay who owns the city’s “Soda Scooter”.

After migrating to Vizag from Bengaluru in search of a living, Sanjay had set up ‘Soda Hut’ at beach road, a favourite adda to many people in the city. Coming as an improvised version of his concept of mobile soda, the soda scooter has been receiving a thumping response ever since it got operational. Located near VUDA Central Park in the city, this strikingly yellow scooter serves thirsty souls all through the day. While the evergreen varieties in the soda and ice gola never go out of demand, the mocktails and milkshakes too are finding a decent number of takers.

“The response has been really good. We have been able to sell about 200 glasses per day on an average, says Sanjay.

“Initially, I set up a soda stall at Akkayyapalem. However, as things got difficult there, I decided to switch to a mobile truck at the Beach Road. Owing to my deteriorating health, I even hired a few people to assist me with the operations here. My workers have been really wonderful and they have been graciously supportive as well. It has been seven years since I set this up and thankfully, now I have come up with a new idea of introducing a soda unit on a scooter.” he further adds when asked about his tryst with the business.
