City gears up for Vizag junior Literary Fest

LitLantern for Culture & Literature Welfare Society, a registered non-profit society, will be organising the inaugural edition of the Navayuga Vizag Junior Literary Fest (VJLF) in Visakhapatnam. This event which is being supported by Andhra Pradesh Tourism is the state’s first Literary Fest meant only for children.

Planned for children between the ages of 4 to 16 years, VJLF will have 58 sessions over two days on the 17th & 18th November 2018. The fest has a line up of eminent guests like Roopa Pai, Seema Wahi, Janaki Sabesh, Aparna Raman and others, including Bongiswa Kotta, a storyteller from South Africa. The fest will also have a unique curated collection of children’s books from publishers from the Indian subcontinent that will all be for sale at the Fest.

VJLF will be conducted at Hawa Mahal, on the Beach Road.

This event will provide children and their parents a chance to interact and experience first-hand sessions with famous writers and publishers.

Sessions are categorised as Open Sessions and Registered session.

Open sessions (Free)

For Adults: Panel discussions, teacher training, book launch and others.

For children: Author signing, storytelling by Indian and South African storytellers, an Interactive session on the Gita and a theatre play performance.

Registered sessions with limited seating at Rs 100/- per session. The sessions are being divided into 3 age groups. 

4-7 years – 14 sessions that cover storytelling, interactive, illustration workshop, storytelling with origami, Book reading with collage making and more)

8-11 years – 11 sessions that include interactive sessions on overcoming insecurities, Fantasy adventures, history and creative writing. Making dairy entries. Storytelling, theatre workshops and many more sessions)

12-16 years – 9 sessions covering theatre workshops, interactive session on living in the teens, loss and acceptance, author signing, storytelling and plenty more)

Registrations for the sessions can be done at

the following locations – Book Magic Library, Lawsons Bay Colony, Tanishq Showroom, VIP Road and Pages Book Shop, Jail road.
