In a bid to ensure that no one is violating the new traffic guidelines, Vizag city traffic police have been conducting regular vehicle checks. As part of these checks, the traffic police are ensuring vehicles don’t have any unauthorised stickers, customised design number plates, high beam lights, tinted glass or any other illegal object. So far, close to 60,000 vehicles have been booked in Visakhapatnam from 10 September 2021 for having customised design number plates.
From September 2021 onwards, 1,399 vehicles in the district were booked for having unauthorised stickers on them. A majority of them, about 900 were found having unauthorised police or press stickers. 170 vehicles also had unauthorised defence stickers on them.
Meanwhile, 821 vehicles have been reprimanded for having horns of loud volume. Over 5047 autorickshaws have been booked for overloading with passengers. In the same period, around 4,500 vehicles were caught in Vizag by the city police, having high beam lights on them.
