The city of Vizag has been witnessing a rise in the number of individuals getting addicted to alcohol. Reportedly, the rehabilitation centres and de-addiction centres have seen a surge in the number of alcohol-addicted individuals approaching them.
As per a report by The Hindu, most of the addicts come with educational backgrounds and are job holders. Unlike in the past, when it was majorly the labourers who constituted those seeking help, the victims nowadays include employees and students.
It was also reported that among those who drink alcohol, only a small amount can be counted within social drinkers while the majority ends up becoming addicts.
Alcohol and drug addiction are one of the fastest and deadliest spreading diseases across the world. Yes, a disease. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has certified the chronic dependency on alcohol to be a life-threatening disease-causing physical, emotional and mental damages eventually to result in definite death. But there is always help.
The de-addiction and rehabilitation centres take the victims through several stages of treatment to get them rid of their alcohol addiction. Detoxification, motivation, counseling, residential treatment, aversion treatment, and relapse are a few of the methods that are generally followed.
