Visakhapatnam – Patient molested, even the King George Hospital proves unsafe

Even in a hospital women are not safe as is proved by a patient who was molested in King George Hospital of Visakhapatnam.

As if the trauma of one’s medical problems is not enough, a patient has been molested in the old and well known King George Hospital of Visakhapatnam. For the victim, who is a 40 year old woman, the harrowing neurological issues with which she was admitted for treatment are not all. The hospital authorities were notified after family members of the victim lodged a complaint with the One Town police on Sunday afternoon.

As reported by The Hindu, the victim was a resident of Peddagantyada of Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam. She was admitted to the hospital with a neurological problem on Friday. After examination she was referred for a CT scan. In the early hours of Saturday morning, the woman was taken to CT scan by the accused who molested her, after taking her to the scanning theater in the King George Hospital.

After the report in One Town police station of Visakhapatnam, the police have already arrested the accused, one M. Kiran Kumar,19 years old, a resident of Poorna Market area. After taking into evidence the CCTV footage, a case has been registered against the accused under the IPC Section 354 (b).

An inquiry had been ordered by the hospital and the authorities have revealed that the accused was a contract employee of an outsourced diagnostic establishment in the hospital.
