Visakhapatnam: Women groups protest against RGV’s ‘God, Sex and Truth’

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming film, ‘God, Sex, and Truth’, has been stirring up major controversies in various circles of the society. Resenting against the film, several women in Visakhapatnam took to the streets on Saturday to protest against Ram Gopal Varma.

Reportedly, members of several women associations, led by All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA), shouted slogans against the filmmaker and burned his effigy at the GVMC Gandhi statue in Visakhapatnam.

The women expressed anger and disappointment over ‘God, Sex and Truth’ stating that it portrayed women in an objectionable manner. They even agitated that Varma used abusive language against women in his recent interview to a TV Channel.

Meanwhile, in Vijayawada, members of BJP Mahila Morcha filed a complaint seeking action to be taken against the team of ‘God, Sex and Truth’ claiming that it damages the Indian marriage system. Kari Nagalakshmi, BJP state executive member said

, “what was the message Varma would be giving to the Youth in India with his dirty film.”

On the other hand, Ram Gopal Varma has said that the main intention of the film is to reveal the truth behind sex which was intended by God. He has even said that the whole effort is to elevate what has been conventionally looked down upon.
