The new avatar of the open air theater in Visakhapatnam has seen an investment of Rs.10 Crores. Measures have been taken to strengthen its defense against natural forces and calamities. Polycarbonate sheet roofing over steel trusses renders it more resilience. Other modern facilities and sound system have been incorporated. It is set for opening this Wednesday when Shri Chandrababu Naidu will be visiting Visakhapatnam.
The famous structure of the theater was badly damaged in the Cyclone Hudhud and was a big blow to the people of Visakhapatnam. The renovation work to give a brand new look to the place is over. As per reports by The Hindu, the cement benches have been replaced with modern seating and the capacity is 2,300.
The theater is the seat of many cultural activities and music and dance programmes of not just Visakhapatnam but Andhra Pradesh too. After the CM Chandrababu Naidu opens it, the people of Vizag will truly get their iconic city landmark.
