Visakhapatnam based ganja peddlers arrested in Hyderabad

Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) nabbed two Visakhapatnam based ganja peddlers on Tuesday for possessing and transporting ganja to Hyderabad. The police held 106 kg of ganja and other materials worth Rs.15 lakhs from the youngsters.

Reportedly, the police identified the accused as M. Ganesh (23) and P. Sai (19) from Gollagonda in Visakhapatnam district. The main accused in the case, Ramprasad, who hails from Narsipatnam hired the youngsters for transporting ganja that he purchased from Vizag agency area.

Malkajgiri SOT and Choutuppal police, on receiving the information, conducted a search and held the vehicle transporting ganja near Choutuppal. The police arrested the peddlers, who admitted that they were smuggling ganja from Vizag to Hyderabad.

Further inquiries by the police revealed more information about Ganesh, one of the two peddlers held. They got to know that Ganesh was involved in the smuggling of ganja for the past few years. Ganesh usually purchased ganja from the agency area and sold it at a higher price through his wide network of people. Ramprasad, who purchased 106 kg of ganja from Narsipatnam, hired Ganesh and Sai by offering them Rs.10,000 each, to transport the same to Hyderabad.

The ganja collected from the vehicle was handed over to Choutuppal police while the two peddlers were sent to remand.
