Which team does Vizag support this IPL?

It’s time for cricket’s biggest T20 carnival and the fans are all set for 50 odd days of riveting action. While Visakhapatnam isn’t going to host any matches in this year’s IPL either, the frenzy among the fans in the city has seen a dip by any amount. With the tournament all set to get off to a roaring start on Saturday, we interacted with a few denizens of the city and asked them which team do they support. Here’s what the had to say.

“It is going to be the year of Chennai Super Kings again. I am an ardent follower of “Thala” (MS Dhoni), and I just can’t wait to watch him back in yellow.”

Akhil, Engineering Student

“I feel really bad for Virat Kohli. He is a true champion of the game and it is sad that he doesn’t have an IPL title under his belt. RCB has a good mix of players this year and I hope this year proves lucky to the team from Bengaluru.”

Surya, former Engineering Student

“Visakhapatnam has always shared a special bond with the Hyderabad franchise and this year will be no different. Even though David Warner has been ruled out of the tournament, I sure Kane Williamson will lead the orange army pretty well.”

Naveen, Software Engineer

“I am a big fan of Rohit Sharma and inevitably end up supporting the team he represents. Mumbai Indians has been a force to reckon with in IPL and I will continue cheering for the men in blue this year too.”

-Madhu Priya, Housewife

“Sunrisers Hyderabad, any day. Many of my favourite players, including the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Rashid Khan, represent this time and also, Hyderabad is a place very close to my heart.”

-Santosh, Fitness Trainer
