5 tips to stay safe from dengue in Visakhapatnam

The number of fever cases being reported in Visakhapatnam has been on the rise for the past few weeks. With several vector-borne diseases, such as dengue and malaria, plaguing the city relentlessly, the GVMC officials and district administration have been upping the ante in their efforts to save the situation.

An increased influx of patients suffering from dengue to the government and private hospitals in Visakhapatnam has left the citizens and authorities with plenty to worry about.

The local authorities have been conducting frequent dengue awareness campaigns and adopting other measures in an attempt to bring the situation under control. However, despite the increased efforts, the scenario is far from ideal in Vizag and the citizens need to follow some measures to keep themselves safe from falling prey to the demons of Dengue. Here are 5 tips you should follow to stay safe.

#1 Prevent mosquito breeding inside and outside your home. Tanks and other containers that are filled with water, need to be closed. Measures should be taken to keep your surroundings clean and avoid water stagnation.

#2 Shut your house’s doors and windows from 5-6 in the mornings and evenings.

#3 Protect yourself from mosquito bites. Wear long sleeves and cover your body entirely. Do mosquito fogging in the surroundings.

#4 Avoid visiting areas in Visakhapatnam that have high mosquito density and are prone to diseases.

#5  It’s mandatory to use mosquito nets. You can also apply mosquito repellents.

#6 Do not ignore early symptoms. Consult your doctor immediately if you have any signs of high fever, body aches, stomach pain, intense headache, regular vomiting, body rashes.
