Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu urges people to respect the constitution

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, on his visit to Vizag, has spoken about the importance of the Indian Constitution. He said this while virtually addressing the participants of the 61st National Defence College (NDC) college on Tuesday evening. He was speaking on the topic “India’s national core values, interests and objectives”. He urged every citizen of the country to uphold the values and objectives mentioned in the constitution.

The Vice President described the Indian Constitution as a “visionary document” that constitutes the core values of India. He highlighted that while the constitution grants fundamental rights to all citizens, it also lays down certain fundamental duties which all should perform.

He talked about peaceful co-existence, global development and environmental protection as the three key values for India. He asked the citizens to work hard towards making themselves resilient, self-reliant and self-confident, which will put the nation in a strong position.

In his address to the participants, the Vice President spoke about many other key objectives for every Indian, while highlighting the need to defeat all negative forces together.

While taking questions from the participants, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu conveyed his disappointment at the deterioration of politics in the country. He also observed that this recent erosion of values can only be stopped if leaders in their respective fields step up and set examples for others to follow.

The Vice President is on a 5-day visit to Vizag. Earlier in the day, he had visited the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) in the city where he had taken part in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. He pointed out the role that university faculties have to play in training students and ensuring that they bring a positive change in the judicial system of the country.
