Anitha hails statutory recognition for Amaravati as the capital of AP

State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has hailed statutory recognition for Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the media at Payakarsopeta in Anakapalle district on Thursday, Anitha said the passage of the related bill in both Houses of Parliament was a victory of farmers who had fought for 1,631 days for it.

Terming it a historic day, Anitha said over 29, 000 farmers sacrificed their land for the capital.

Thanking Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Home Minister said the visionary leader would shape the capital into one of the best in the world.

Taking a dig at the previous YSRCP government, Anitha said it made the State without a capital in the name of three capitals.

She ridiculed the remarks of former Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy on the capital.
