Two women, who failed at meeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, allegedly attempted suicide outside the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat in Velagapudi.
As per a report in The Hindu, the women, identified as Md. Fathima and Md. Shakkira, are from Nandyal. Their father, who worked in the Department of Agriculture, died in 1997. It has been reprted that the women were urging everyone to give their father’s job to anyone in their family as they were finding it extremely difficult to meet their ends.
The women, along with their family, visited Velagupudi in order to meet the CM and ask him to intervene in the matter to get them the required job. However, when they were stopped at the entrance and not allowed to meet the CM, the women consumed the pesticide that they had brought along with them. The security, who had noticed them, alerted the security personnel. The women were immediately admitted to a hospital and their health condition is stated to be critical.
Unfortunately, this is not the first instance of such mishap. Earlier, many others too attempted suicide when they were denied a meeting with the Chief Minister.
Last month, a 24-year-old woman consumed sleeping pills near the Secratariat, following which she was rushed to a private hospital at Mangalagiri.
Also, earlier this year, a man tried to commit suicide by consuming poison outside the residence of Chandrababu Naidu, in Undavalli.
