Tourists, locals in Visakhapatnam delighted with restoration of Araku trains by Railways

Araku Valley, Visakhapatnam is back on the AP Tourism map and all thanks to Railways who took up work at good speed to restore the trains on K-K line.

The winter holidays bring a big boom for AP tourism and the all important Kottavalasa – Kirandul trains line has seen railways restore it at a good speed. Araku Valley, Visakhapatnam is a desired place for tourists as well as locals and the damage to the trains line was a major set back for AP tourism. The trains were cancelled due to extensive damage due to boulder fall, between Borraguhalu and Chimidipalli Railway Stations, on Oct 6, this year. All this is now past. The damaged bridge on the K-K line was not just important to AP tourism for movement of thousands of tourists but also movement of raw materials from the Bailadila mines in Chattisgarh to industries in Visakhapatnam.

Tourists flock to the beautiful Araku Valley from Visakhapatnam and elsewhere and the train journey through the winding roads of the mountains and valleys is a must do. Railways were quick to act and restore the trains on this. An added attraction is the Vistadome Coach for doesn’t like to partake the vast scenery while travelling through it. The see through glass coach in the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Passengerwas launched in April this year.

The Araku trains began their normal run from Dec 11. Not just tourists, locals in Visakhapatnam are also happy with the work of Railways and have heaped praises on them for the fast and effective work to restore.
