Helicopter tourism in Visakhapatnam to open for public soon despite roadblocks

The helicopter tourism project in Visakhapatnam has been facing roadblocks but is planned for opening soon to public.

The tentative date for opening of the ambitious helicopter tourism project in Visakhapatnam is out. The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be inaugurating it when he visits visakhapatnam on December 16th. This is planning despite of the project being beset by numerous roadblocks. It was set to open on his earlier visit but last minute issues prevented this from happening. It is also known that the Chief Minister’s security necessitates a twin engine helicopter and so the requirement. For the public the helicopter tourism venture will provide single engine craft. The private agencies have agreed to bring this in.

A costly affair, the tourism project has cost Pawan Hans Ltd., 10 lakhs INR just for the trial run.

Another issue is the permissions from Naval Authorities which expire on December 14th and request has been made for extension. The concerned officer are in talks with officials from Pawan Hans regarding the same.

Despite the numerous roadblocks, the plan is set to workout and have the inauguration done as scheduled on December 16th as expressed by HRD Minister, Ganta Srinivasa Rao. The helicopter tourism project will be opened for public during the Visakha Utsav from December 28th.
