Visakhapatnam is all set to get another manufacturing unit established in its space. The city, which is turning out to be a hot favourite for many domestic and international investors, with a touch screen production plant, is now deemed to get up and running on the technological front as well.
Gouttephone Technology Private Limited is all set to establish a touch screen panel production plant in Visakhapatnam. A leading R&D house from Taiwan, with an investment of $76 million, will be collaborating with Gouttephone for this project.
The company has identified 5 acres of land in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Visakhapatnam and signed an MoU with Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) for the initiation of the project. Gouttephone Technology Limited directors Ramesh Kumar and Amardeep Singh and APEDB CEO J. Krishna Kishore were present at the signing ceremony. APEDB will chip in by providing the necessary amenities to facilitate the project’s completion.
A report in The Hindu stated that the project, once started, will manufacture 1.5 million touch screen panels per year and create 250 direct and 50 indirect jobs. The report also informed that the project is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of 2018.
With the new project expected to produce numerous touch screen panels, Visakhapatnam is expected to find its feet in the mobile and laptop manufacturing space.
