India’s independent music scene has exploded brilliantly in the last few years. The crowds in big cities have begun to accept them for their eccentricities, with more bands experimenting with their sounds and creating content that is bold and innovative. You can find these Indie Bands in India belting out their favorite tunes in a local bar or ripping out solos at music festivals every year. Here are some of the underrated bands that you should be checking out:

F16

The F16s

Based in Chennai, The F16s are an Indie/Alternative/Electro rock band that rose to fame after winning the Road to Converse rubber tracks in India. They were mostly influenced by artists such as The Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes and Jet. With high energy sets and their groovy art work, their album Triggerpunkte is going to come out soon, meanwhile listen to their LP Kaleidoscope – Avalanche and Light Bulb are a few of the crowd favorites.

Black Letters

Black Letters

The Black Letters are a Bangalore/Kochi based band that initially started out as a metal act and then shifted to Alternative Rock/Dream Pop. The band comprises of Akash Chacko on drums, Sarang Menon on guitar, Arjun Radhakrishnan on bass and Sharath Iyer on guitar and vocals. Check out their popular single Phila from their new EP Petrichor. Their previous album Shapes on the Wall

Blushing Satellite

Blushing Satellite

The Blushing Satellite is a newly formed band, based in Bangalore. It comprises of Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) guitarist Ramanan Chandramouli, along with ex-Bicycle Days/Klypp vocalist Karthik Basker, Wesley Newton and Arjun Ramdas on drums. Listen to their Jazz and R&B influenced, self-titled EP with its mellow, dream like vocals.

 

 

Mad Orange Fireworks

Mad Orange Fireworks

The Bangalore based Alternate Rock band released their new LP Under the Orange Sky a few months back with a heavy grunge sound. Their older songs from their self-titled EP consists of lighter, acoustic tunes. You will fall in love with the smooth bass and the crooning vocals from Your Eyes
