Star Hotel Staffer Was Molested, Not Raped, Say Police

Recently, an intern at a star hotel in the city accused an ex-colleague of rape. The City Police have now confirmed that the intern was molested by two people on June 4. However, the medical report of the victim has reportedly ruled out rape.

The woman alleged that she was raped by two people after being forced to consume alcohol. Consequently, two men – Sakineti Sridhar and Kommu Durga have been arrested. DCP Naveen Gulati stated that while medical reports show no evidence of rape, the injuries on her body suggest molestation.

Sridhar is an ex-employee of the hotel and Durga is still employed with the hotel. The person who booked their room – L Vinay Kumar – is on the run. The victim stated that she previously knew the accused Sridhar. Police have examined eyewitnesses at the hotel and taken in the version provided by the victim. They checked the CCTV footage to ascertain facts.

At 10.45 PM on June 4, the accused had come to the victim’s house and badgered her to go out with him. The victim left the house after informing her parents at 11 PM. After driving around the city for a while, the accused took the victim to the hotel at around 02:30 AM. She was then forced to drink alcohol, after which, she couldn’t remember the events that transpired. They then left for Durga’s house at 05:30 AM and the victim stayed there before coming back to duty by 09:30 AM.

However, her colleagues told the police that she looked disturbed. The victim let them know that she was suffering from severe body and stomach pain and was taken to the hospital. On June 8, the victim narrated the entire incident to her colleagues who then made her lodge a complaint with the police at Three Town.

After the incident was reported in the media, the two accused fled but were later caught. It is yet to be ascertained if any sedative was added to the victim’s drinks. Blood samples have been collected from the victim for the same and sent to FSL in Hyderabad. If a sedative is found, Sections under the Narcotics Act will be invoked. The police had registered a case

under Section 376 (D) of the IPC and now under Sections 354 and 109 of the IPC.
