School Fees to Get Costlier

The schools in the state are gearing up to get costlier with the state government’s proposal to have hike in the school fees for each class by 12%. The privately run educational institutions are able to hike their fees by 10% annually as of now. This proposal is part of the draft AP Self-Financed Independent Schools Act 2017, draft AP Self-Financed Independent Schools Rules 2017 and Draft Model Code Disclosures 2017.

This proposal has been brought up by the state government  to streamline the establishment and reign in the functioning of the private schools. The Government is trying to seek feedback from various stakeholders. The fee hike doesn’t end with the proposal as the zonal fee regulatory committees, which will be constituted as part of the rules. However, they will take decisions on proposals which have been received from the schools regarding the proposed increase beyond the limit.

The draft rules are aimed at the promotion of corporate schools according to State Convenor  for Right to Education forum Narava Prakasa Rao. He also said that the neighbouring states like Telangana are putting forward proposals to have free education from KG to PG. This draft Bill mandates all the recognized schools to update their information in public domain which has been provided by the state government. The information includes accreditation and affiliation of different schools , fee structure, hostel facilities, sports facilities, student teacher ratio and the qualifications of the teachers. Adding to this information will be the details about the major events which the schools organize for the staff and students.
