RTC bus climbs up a divider, rams into a truck in Vizag

Road mishaps continue to pose as a major reason for concern among the citizens of Vizag. In yet another road mishap in the city, an RTC bus climbed up a road divider and rammed into a truck travelling in the opposite direction. The incident occurred on the Maddilapalem-Isukathota road in the city on Thursday morning.

The strong collision shattered the front portion of the truck and left its driver severely injured. The rescue efforts lasted for more than an hour as the locals and concerned officials toiled hard to take the strangled driver out of his cabin. The passengers of the bus, on the other hand, had a narrow escape as the bus, which was travelling from Vizag to Srikakulam, lost control to cause the ruckus. The traffic on the busy route was left stranded for a while before the authorities cleared the way.

The site of the accident

A similar incident had taken place near RTC Complex in Vizag a few months ago when an APSRTC bus rammed into one of the traffic signal poles. It was reported that the bus’ brakes had malfunctioned, causing the driver to hit the pole to avert a major accident and safeguard the passengers and other commuters.

In another similar case, a major mishap was averted near Purna market in the city when brake failure made an APSRTC bus driver hit a nearby divider to bring it to a halt.
