Human Resource and Development Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Ganta Srinivas Rao has conducted a review meeting regarding government schools, with the education department officials and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan in Vizag on Sunday.
The minister said that the parents are sending their wards to private schools even though the government schools are offering free education, uniforms, books, books, mid-day meals and other basic amenities.
Srinivasa Rao said, “The officials concerned and teachers should take the responsibility of instilling confidence among the parents about the quality of education and free amenities available at the government schools. Good academic performers can join the government schools as teachers and there is a cut-throat competition among the aspirants to teach in these schools. And we are providing better amenities than the private schools.”
Also, ” Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is committed to making Andhra Pradesh a knowledge hub and achieving 100 percent literacy rate by 2019. We are upgrading 31 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas as junior colleges from this academic year,” said Srinivasa Rao.
Issues related to school education such as academic performance, availability of textbooks and uniforms, infrastructure, fee structure, midday meals, unrecognized schools, student enrolment drive, to list a few, were discussed at the meeting in Vizag. Commissioner of School Education, K Sandhya Rani and SSA State Project Director G Srinivas made their presence at the meeting.
The minister has earlier published the ‘Energising Textbooks’. The textbook incorporates QR codes of certain topics/ procedures in each lesson. He mentioned that Andhra Pradesh
is the first state to get Energising Textbooks from this academic year and other states are following the pursuit.Credits: Times of India
