rana uppalapati
Rana Uppalapati, the skating star of Vizag reaches yet another milestone. He skated from the border of Odisha to Vizag completing 200km/day. His aim was to cover the entire coastline of Visakhapatnam.
His last venture was to Chennai; completing 100km/day in a span of 8 days. But during that time he couldn’t cover all the districts of Visakhapatnam. This time he covered all the places on his way from the Odisha border. “I have never done this earlier as it required me to push both my body and my mind,” said Rana. He completed 200kms on the 14th of November and the remaining 42kms today in 2 and half hours.
The cause for his journey was always to spread awareness – be it women’s fitness or breast cancer. This time around, he was spreading awareness about breast cancer and campaigning for ‘Vizag Going Pink’. ‘Pinkathon’- The all women marathon being organised in our city on the 20th of November encourages women to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The registrations for it have begun and can be done online on: www.indiagoingpink.com . For offline registrations, women can go to the Tanishq store located at VIP Road.
Last year, Pinkathon raised money during campaigns and was able to successfully help three women suffering from breast cancer. “We had 1800 participants last year and this year we are expecting at least 3000 participants,” said Rana.
