The night parking bays are expected to increase the number of early morning flights to all over India and also increase the night landings in the city. The Airport Authority of India has reportedly stated that four authorities in Andhra Pradesh have registered a growth in air passenger traffic.

During the 2016-17 fiscal year, Visakhapatnam led with an all-time high. The Vizag airport registered an amount of 23.58 lakh passengers in that fiscal year as against the 18.04 lakh registered in 2015-16, registering a growth of over 30%.

The proposed Greenfield International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district is expected to be a reality in five years. AAI has spent Rs 28 crore for the creation of these night parking bays. The usual apron of eight parking bays will be used for scheduled flights.
