Three accused have been arrested for the gangrape of two minors in Chintapalli mandal on May 20. Two minor tribal girls were raped by eight and the girls refused to compromise when the case was taken to the notice of village elders.
The arrested have been identified as K Varun – son of TDP MPTC, Challangi Sravan Kumar and Mamidi Hari Govinda Prasad. Search teams are on the lookout for the remaining five accused. While Varun had surrendered before the police on Wednesday night after police interrogation, the other two were arrested based on a tip-off.
After bring produced in Chintapalli first class Judicial magistrate court, the Judge has remanded them for 15 days in custody. The three accused have been shifted to Visakhapatnam Central prison. Police is looking to reportedly nab the other five before the Mahanadu begins in Visakhapatnam tomorrow.
Recently, a Kerala student had cut off the genitals of her tormentor. She had received the support of the Chief Minister of Kerala and lauded for her move. Andhra Pradesh Woman Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Raja Kumari recently commented that girls should carry knives with them all the time to do the same.
Her remark has received flak from organisations for inciting violence and they demand a criminal case be booked against her for the same. The Chairperson had made the suggestion after visiting the two minor girls who were recuperating. She stated that the government should legalise knives for girls so they can protect themselves from rapists. She further stated that rapists must be skinned alive in public too.
