There is good news for people of Vizag. Two national highways are in the offing and plans for NAD flyover are underway. The roadway scenario within time will improve and transport to and from Vizag facilitated.
NAD Flyover news: The NAD flyover is long pending and the citizens of Vizag have been stressing on this point since long. Currently VUDA officials have been asked to call for tenders. The foundation stone for the flyover will be tentatively laid in the second week of September.
The plan is much hyped and has been proposed since 2015. It is proposed to be three-level flyover. It is much needed at the NAD junction. It is an intersection of NH 16, roads to Pendurthi, Simhachalam, Araku as well as the city airport. The long pending flyover will help ease the traffic log jams.
National Highway news: Visakhapatnam will be more accessible in the future. Roadways and freight corridor will pass through Vizag. A new Rs.1900 crore national highway will be laid, connecting Malkangiri to Sabbavaram via Balimela, Sileru, chintapalli, Narsipatnam and Chodavaram. Yet another is to be laid from Narsipatnam to Tuni. Vizag will thus be connected to Malkangiri and Tuni via good roadways. The Malkangiri-Chodavaram highway is supposed to be 284 kilometers long. Close to 660 hectares of land will be acquired for the said project.
District authorities have already been notified and teams have been appointed for acquiring land. central Government has already given approval for these projects. the Government has asked for a detailed project report which the Roads and Buildings Ministry will be furnishing.
