For former Indian Cricket Team skipper MS Dhoni, Visakhapatnam is extra special and as they say, history is about to repeat itself. Do you know why and how?

MS Dhoni is back to where it all began and Visakhapatnam holds a special place his heart forever and always. This is because it was here that his first successful career start was made. It was 12 years ago and the match was against Pakistan. He comes back to Visakhapatnam to chart yet another success story by achieving a momentous distinction. He is just 102 runs short of becoming the second wicket-keeper batsman in ODI history to complete a total of 10, 000 runs. The first was Kumar Sangakara. It will be a special match in a special place, the ODI against Sri Lanka at the stadium here.

MS Dhoni was selected to play for Indian Cricket Team after delivery hit performances on local turf. His debut in the match against Bangladesh, way back in 2004 didn’t go down well. A sad run continued. It was only during his second ODI against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam that matters took a decidedly better turn. He gave 148 off 123 included 15 fours and four sixes and turned the tide. His delivery put him in the frontline of star players and rest as they say is history. Visakhapatnam is thus a very special spot for this cricket pro and will always remain so.

In a Tweet that has the tone of affection and regard, Dhoni has spoken of Vizag – “Vizag, one of the cities,that I would love to live in, nice and beautiful landscape with beach and home to my first big innings.”
