Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy released from Vizag Prison on bail

Top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy has been released from Visakhapatnam Central Jail on Tuesday. The Indian Express reported that Ghandy was granted bail in six different cases. He later flew away to his native place Mumbai on Tuesday night.
Kobad Ghandy was arrested by the police in 2009 from New Delhi. Over the course of these 8 years, he has been jailed at various prisons including Cherlapalli Jail in Hyderabad and Tihar Jail in Delhi. Ghandy was lodged at Visakhapatnam jail since April this year.
The 66-year-old, apart from being an accused in the attack on a Greyhounds commandos team in 2008, has also been accused of having connections with the murder of former Congress MLA C Narsi Reddy in August 2005. He was even charged with murder charges of former Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker D Sripad Rao in 1999.
It has been informed that Ghandy was apparently suffering from kidney ailments, prostate cancer, high blood pressure, back problem, and even a heart ailment.
It has been learned that most of the cases against him were under the Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities Act. Officials informed that police failed to file charge sheets in cases against him in Andhra Pradesh.
