London Eye-like ferris wheel proposed to be set up in Vizag

A London Eye-like observation / ferris wheel will soon be set up in Vizag. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, shared these plans during a State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting on Wednesday. He also asked the officials to build state-of-the-art facilities at Visakhapatnam, and other tourist spots, to turn Andhra Pradesh into a tourism hub. London Eye is a cantilevered observation wheel in the heart of London, at a height of 135 metres, on the bank of River Thames. Due to its location and height, the wheel draws a lot of tourists every day and is one of the popular attractions in the city of London.

CM Jagan talked about the need to have world-class facilities so that tourists are drawn to AP from all over the world. The Chief Minister also emphasised that all tourism, or other developmental, projects started should be completed in a time-bound manner, without any delays.

As an example, he proposed a London Eye-like observation / ferris wheel to be set up in Vizag which has a lot of natural sceneries to be explored. A project, like this, is expected to be a huge success and bring in a lot of tourism to Vizag.

SIPB officials revealed that about Rs. 2,868.60 crore investment will be brought to AP through various companies in the near future. The Oberoi Group, which runs luxury hotels and resorts in various parts of the country, is also planning to open a hotel in Visakhapatnam, among other AP cities. The Hyatt Group also has similar plans.

It’s worth remembering that the AP State Government had announced in 2017 that a Sky Tower is to come up at Kailasagiri in Visakhapatnam. A Swiss firm had even been assigned to construct this 120 metres high tower but the construction work is yet to begin.
