Karnataka election results: The much-awaited Karnataka election results seem to be setting in the right waves among the BJP supporters as the party looks poised to form the government if it manages to convert its leads to wins.
While the counting of votes is still underway in Karnataka, the current results suggest that BJP leads in over 105 seats while Congress and JD(S) lead in 73 and 38 seats respectively.
Karnataka’s incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of Congress, who is hanging by a thread in Badami, has lost to GT Devegowda of JD(S) in Chamundeshwari by a huge margin.
“People have rejected Siddaramaiah. He lost because of his attitude, because of attacking everyone & because of his loose talk,” GT Devegowda, JD(S) candidate, was quoted as saying by ANI.
With BJP set to emerge as the single largest party in the southern state, it has been reported that Siddaramaiah, who met senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, is likely to submit his resignation this afternoon after the results are declared.
Meanwhile, with BJP leading in the majority of the seats, the party’s cadres and supporters have started the celebrations at various places in Karnataka.
Visakhapatnam MLC PVN Madhav, while speaking to Yo! Vizag, said, “This is a victory of the people of Karnataka. It is a clear indicator that they are vexed with the Congress government’s corruption and want a change, which BJP is bound to deliver.”
