International Trade Centre of women entrepreneurs to be set up in Visakhapatnam

Andhra Pradesh HRD minister, Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, on Friday, stated that an International Trade Centre of women entrepreneurs will be set up in Visakhapatnam. This centre will aim to groom women entrepreneurs into industry leaders. It has been informed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be laying the foundation stone for the Trade Centre during inaugural of International Conference of Women Entrepreneurs, which is to be held in the city from January 17 to 19.

Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao, while announcing the holding of International Conference of Women Entrepreneurs, informed that 50-acres site was allotted in Gidijala, Anandapuram for the Trade Centre to be constructed. President of Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India K. Rama Devi and Visakhapatnam District Collector Pravin Kumar were also present at the event.

It has been estimated that around Rs 16 crore will be invested for setting up this International Trade Centre of women entrepreneurs. The centre is entitled to 40% subsidy for infrastructure from the Ministry of MSME. In addition, other incentives too will be provided to help the women entrepreneurs thrive in their respective fields.

Ms. Ramadevi said that Visakhapatnam, with its water transport facilities, will facilitate the easier transport of the industrial production to various national and international markets. She also stated that the state government and the district authorities were doing their bit for the successful organisation of the International Conference of Women Entrepreneurs to be held on January 17,18 and 19.

Prominent entrepreneurs from the fields of Software and Biotechnology, along with experts from incubation centres in Tirupati, T-Hub, and IIT, will participate in this three-day event.

Ratnakar Adhikari from International Trade Centre, Geneva, Clement Chauvet from UNDP, T.T. Hang from European Investment Fund, are among the experts who’ll be addressing at the conference. Also, as many as seventy delegates from SAARC countries are also expected to attend the event.
