Local boy Shines Bright!

Update (27.3.2017): LV Revanth had reached the Top 3 of Indian Idol. Voting lines will stay open till April 2, 2017 – 8 PM. Vote now to show your support before voting lines close! Let local boy, LV Revanth be the next Indian Idol.

LV Revanth, the singer from our very own Visakhapatnam has made it to the top four (update: top three) finalists of Indian Idol 9, a pop idol format show that is being aired on Sony TV. With judges Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam, the show works on a format where viewers can vote for the singer they like most. Known popularly as Rockstar Revanth, our city lad, has won the hearts of fans across the world with his melodious voice and unique style.

Born and brought up in Srikakulam, Revanth shifted to Visakhapatnam where he studied at the Dr VS Krishna college. He later went on to Hyderabad to pursue his career in music. Having rendered over 200 songs for the film industry as a playback singer, he won a lot of praise for his rendering of the hit Tollywood number ‘Manohari’ of Baahubali. While it wasn’t easy leaving an established career in music to explore the national platform that Indian Idol offers, Revanth has mastered the flawless rendering of many Hindi numbers, despite not knowing the language that well.

With the night of 18th show eliminating Mohit Chopra and leaving participants Rohit, Maalavika, Khuda Baksh and Revanth in the competition, the tension is building up for the participants.  Shilpa Shetty, who was the special judge on the show on 18th praised Revanth for ‘his hero-like voice’. She went on to talk a few words in Telugu and when asked by Revanth, also danced with him, thereby wooing the audience.

As Revanth does his best on stage, it’s time we show support for our local talent. When the voting lines open for our Vizag lad, let’s vote for him at http://indianidol.sonyliv.com/online-voting-contestants .

*Voting lines are close now. They open next Sunday at 8 PM & stay open till Monday 7 AM.
