After a 12-hour marathon of musical entertainment, the winner of Indian Idol 12 has finally been revealed. The finale of this singing-reality show entertained the viewers, right from noon till midnight. The episode saw beautiful performances by the 6 finalists, as well as the show’s judges and special guests. Marking the occasion of India Independence Day, the episode had the theme of patriotism while celebrating the grandest night of the show. The finale episode also took viewers back to the 90s with guest singers Kumar Sanu, Sukhwinder Singh, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik setting the stage on fire. The anticipation came to an end when Pawandeep Rajan was announced as the winner of Indian Idol Season 12.
During the episode, judges Himesh Reshammiya and Sonu Kakkar also joined the fun and enthralled the audience with their rocking performances. Past contestants like Sreeram Chandra and Sunny Hindustani graced the finale stage and motivated the finalists. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan also sent his best wishes to the six finalists and shared “You are all winners in my mind, as you have all won our hearts over the course of Indian Idol 12.”
To wrap up her Indian Idol journey with one last grand performance, contestant Shanmukha Priya, from Visakhapatnam, chose the song “Tu Meri” and electrified the audience. Not just with her voice but also with her dance moves. Her performance displayed why she deserved to be in the contention to become the twelfth winner of Indian Idol.
Shanmukha Priya also received a pleasant surprise when actor Vijay Deverakonda wished her through a video message. The Tollywood actor addressed Shanmukha and her mother in Telugu, talking about how he has thoroughly enjoyed all her performances. While wishing her for the finale, Vijay also asked Shanmukha to meet him afterwards, offering her the chance to sing in his next film.
At the end of the episode, all gathered on the stage when the winner of Indian Idol 12 was announced. Pawandeep Rajan instantly became emotional, as his supporters jumped on the stage to hug him.
