In a shocking case of honour killing in Andhra Pradesh, a man is suspected to have killed his 20-year-old daughter for allegedly getting into a relationship with a boy from the SC community.
Reportedly, Indraja married the youngster from her village, which was not approved by her father, K Papaiah, who returned to Nagireddypalli of Komarolu mandal post his retirement as a police constable in Hyderabad.
As per the neighbours, the father and daughter duo quarrelled frequently over marriage as Papaiah wanted his daughter to marry someone from their community. Things turned bitter when the retired police constable hanged Indraja to death, following a heated argument on Sunday night.
Papaiah then rushed her body to the graveyard on Monday morning and performed the last rites hurriedly and told the villagers that his daughter had committed suicide. With suspicions being raised, the police entered the scene and inspected the graveyard. Later, they took Papaiah and his relatives into custody for gaining further insights.
This comes after the huge ruckus created across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by the honour killing of Peramalla Pranay Kumar, husband of Amrutha Varshini. Maruthi Rao, Amrutha’s father, had got Pranay murdered for marrying his daughter. The incident had once again brought to light the deadly tentacles of the caste demons in our country and had opened widespread debates on the sorry state of socio-economic affairs that are prevalent even today.
