Former AU Professor ranked 18th in India by Global AD Scientific Index – 2021

In a yet another meritorious achievement for the former Professor of Andhra University (AU), Vizag, Nandipati Subba Rao, the recently released AD Scientific Index – 2021, has ranked him 18th in India, 187th in Asia, and 1,856th in the world in the discipline of Earth Sciences. The AD Scientific Index is a ranking of scientists, in various scientific research journals around the world, based on their index coefficients for publishing their personal scientific research papers over the past five years and their subject matter. 

To date, Mr Acharya Subba Rao has published over 120 scientific papers in various reputed National and International Scientific Research Journals. In the h-Index of AD Scientific Index – 2021, which indicates how many scientists have used scientific research papers published by a researcher as supporting references in their published research papers, Mr Rao’s research papers were awarded 35. For the unversed, if this index awards less than 20, then it indicates a general scientist. If the index is between 20 and 40, it suggests a good scientist. If it is from 40 to 60, it represents the best scientist; If it is more than 60, it indicates a rare scientist.

AU – AD Scientific Index – 2021

It is worth noting that Professor Subba Rao is already remembered as a scientist in the “World’s Top 2% Scientists – 2020 and 2021” lists compiled by the world-renowned Stanford University in the USA. This list has been prepared by the globally renowned university after assessing scientists from across the world for the research carried out during their career span, according to the data collected up to 2019. It is to be noted that while 1,59,683 researchers were chosen across the globe, almost 1500 Indians managed to secure a place on the list.

Dr Nandipati Subba Rao, former HOD of Geology at Andhra University (AU), has been ranked 557 among the world’s top 2 percent scientists for his research in the field of Environmental Engineering. Recognised for his contribution towards groundwater contamination and watershed management, environmental hydrogeology, and soil-rock-water interactions, Dr Rao has published over 100 research papers in national and international journals to his credit.

Retired as the HOD at the Geology Department, AU, Dr Rao also authored Hydrogeology: Problems with Solutions, which was published by Prentice Hall of India in 2017. Known for playing a significant role in creating awareness in protecting natural resources, the academician is a Limca Book of Records for publishing 98 research papers mostly on environmental hydrology and for sharing his research findings with the general public issues concerning the environment. Dr Rao is also a World Book of Records titleholder. 

The former AU Professor is also a recipient of several prestigious awards including the National Mineral Award  (2009), State Scientist Award (2009), Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award for Best Academician of the Year (2010), Vishala Bharati Gaurav Satkar (2011), and State Best Teacher Award(2014), and among others.

Apart from his expertise in the field of Environmental Engineering and Geology, Dr Rao also pens socially relevant poems in Telugu. In 2016, he also published a poem anthology named Amaravati.
