Vizag will not have much longer to wait for the long pending flyover at NAD Junction. The construction has increased pace and the Chief Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone on September 27th. Vijay Nirman, the company undertaking the construction of the flyover is working on the foundation laying ceremony. Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority, VUDA has finalized the tenders and the investment is set to the tune of 122.77 crores.
The flyover which has been much hyped has been promised to us since 2015. A major congestion zone for traffic, NAD Junction lies in wait. The public has faced many inconviniences on this route which is a junction for major roads. It sees the convergence of the routes connecting the airport, Simhachalam temple as well as the Araku Valley. The traffic on the junction is immense with private vehicles such 2, 3 and 4 wheelers out numbering the public road transport.
Details of construction – The flyover is proposed to have a three level grade separator ad a six-lane underpass. The two levels of the flyovers will have a three lane on the first level and a four lane on the second level. Vijay Nirman has been awarded the tender and is set to finish construction in the stipulated 18 months time period.
The Chief Minister’s tour will witness two major events which are the inauguration of the Tu-142m museum and foundation stone laying at NAD Junction flyover.
