All the new movies and shows coming soon on Disney+ Hotstar

From Marvel TV shows to Indian web series, Disney+ Hotstar has been causing quite the storm in the streaming world this year. While it has a huge catalogue of movies and web series for people to watch, apart from other things like sports and news, everyone wants to watch the latest content. And Disney+ Hotstar delivers in that regard, rolling out a slew of new, exciting movies and TV shows every month. The same is the case with the coming two months, with the OTT platform announcing its lineup for the next two months and people are now rushing to get a Disney+ Hotstar subscription.

“This Caption was about to blow your mind but we’ll just let this line up do it for us,” said Disney+ Hotstar in a tweet dated 27 July 2021. While the OTT platform didn’t reveal the release dates, a mere title lineup of the upcoming movies sent social media abuzz. 

Here is Disney+ Hotstar full lineup of the new movies and shows releasing on the platform this year:

#1 The Empire

This historical drama stars Kunal Kapoor in the lead as the Mughal emperor Babur and tells the story of how he conquered India. The series has been created by Nikhil Advani and is one of the biggest upcoming releases on the Disney+ Hotstar slate.

#2 Rudra: The Edge of Darkness

After Bhuj: The Pride of India (which will release on 11 August 2021, Ajay Devgn’s next big project is this crime-thriller series. A remake of the British series Luther, this cop-drama will have Ajay Devgn don a police uniform again but in a completely different shade.

#3 Aarya (Season 2)

Sushmita Sen roared back in Bollywood in 2020 with this crime drama who takes over an illegal drug business after her husband’s death. The series is packed with cool dialogues and action sequences. The success of the show led to its renewal for a second season which has completed filming. A release date is yet to be announced.

#4 Human

The next Hindi medical-drama on everyone’s watchlist, Human stars Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari in the lead.

#5 Six Suspects

Here comes another murder mystery with an all-female lead cast. It’s about an interesting case of murder for which 6 women are being suspected. Mandira Bedi, Dipannita Sharma and Urmila Kothare headline the cast of this series.

#6 City of Dreams Season 2

This political drama based in Mumbai was a huge success with its first season. Now, it’s back with a second season where you get to see Priya Bapat’s character take the reigns as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in tumultuous times. City of Dreams Season 2 is now available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar.

#7 Escaype Live

With the tech-thriller trend growing in India, here’s another such series for you to watch. Starring Siddharth in the lead, this series has an excellent supporting cast consisting of Ritvik Sahore, Javed Jaffrey and Shweta Tripathi. It’s about a group of people who decide to use a live-streaming app for getting famous. With many new movies and shows slated for release on Disney+ Hotstar, this is one no one should miss.

#8 Fear 1.0

After the huge success of Hostages, Tisca Chopra returns with another Disney+ Hotstar series which is being billed as a supernatural thriller. The show also has a veteran supporting cast of Saurabh Shukla and Rajesh Tailang. Tisca Chopra recently shared her look from the series which has got a lot of people excited about this series.

#9 Gharshana

Disney+ Hotstar has been generating a lot of Telugu content recently, with web series like Live Telecast and November Story. The next one on the list is this political drama. It stars Jagapathi Babu and Sarathkumar in the lead and is set in Vizag. It has been announced that this series will have two seasons.

#10 My Perfect Husband

For all those wondering what Sathyaraj of Baahubali fame is up to nowadays, here’s his next project, a family drama that also stars actresses Seetha and Sukanya.

#11 Family Matters

Another Telugu mystery thriller, Family Matters has an exciting cast of Murali Sharma, Nandu, Akshara Gowda and Sonia Agarwal.

#12 Those Pricey Thakur Girls

People who are in the mood for watching some romantic comedies can check out this. Starring Akshay Oberoi and Sahher Bammba, it is based on Indian author Anuja Chauhan’s book of the same name.

This popular dance-reality show of Remo D’Souza is returning for its sixth season. The show is expected to begin sometime in October 2021 and will have Punit Pathak, Shakti Mohan and Salman Yusuff Khan as the team captains.

#15 Criminal Justice Season 3

This judicial drama is going from strength to strength, with every passing season. Its first two seasons were mind-blowing and Pankaj Tripathi excelled in his performance as a lawyer. Its third season is going to release soon and it can be just as good or even better. Out of all the new movies and shows coming on Disney+ Hotstar, Criminal Justice Season 3 is on the top of that list.

#16 Special Ops 1.5

One of the shows to watch on Disney+ Hotstar in 2020, Special Ops impressed everyone with its fast-paced storytelling and crackling performances from Kay Kay Menon, Karan Tacker and the others. Now, it’s back with a new season which has been titled “Special Ops 1.5”, in typical Neeraj Pandey style.

#17 Bhuj: The Pride of India

This patriotic movie is one of the biggest releases of this month. Releasing on 11 August 2021, it stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha to name a few. The trailer of this movie caused a lot of buzz on its release.

#18 Bhoot Police

With the success of movies like Stree, Bollywood has wholeheartedly adopted the horror-comedy genre. Bhoot Police is the latest addition to it. With a star-studded cast of Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam, this movie is one of the most-anticipated releases of 2021 and is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on 17 September 2021.
