Rs 4000 Cr Digitalise Schools Andhra Pradesh
HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao stated that the state government will soon be sanctioning a grant of Rs 4000 crore for the digitalisation of schools in Andhra Pradesh.
At a review meeting with all the district educational officers, he stated that the examination results from government schools were less than satisfactory. The HRD Minister reportedly directed the educational officers to carry an enquiry into the reason behind the students’ unable to fare well. He also asked them to zero down on subjects that require special focus. He directed the officials to monitor the students’ progress constantly.
A 14-point agenda for the development and modernisation of government schools was discussed at the meeting. 81 primary and upper-primary schools that have a student population of less than 19 have been merged with the approval of the District Collector. Teachers will now be transferred and the procedure will be done online for transparency.
Teachers however protested in front of the HRD Minister’s residence against the unjustified manner in which these transfers are being conducted. They also protested against the manner the web counselling process was being done.
Meanwhile, issues have cropped up concerning books and the availability of cycles for students. Where 16.85 lakh books are required, only 11.30 lakh books were received for distribution.
