TDP President Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly written a letter to the centre, seeking a release of Rs 5000 crore for the state. The letter, which was addressed to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and RBI Governor Urjit Patel, said that the people of Andhra Pradesh were facing issues due to the cash crunch over the last few days with the ATMs running short on cash. The CM urged the central authorities to release the funds immediately to meet the needs of the people here, The Hans India reported.
While most of the ATMs in the state are dressed with the “No-Cash” board, the banks too are, informedly, not able to hand out the cash demanded by the customers. The CM thus asked the RBI to release the required currency, in denominations of small and large.
Recently, the citizens of Visakhapatnam too had their fair share of problems with the majority of the ATMs in the city going dry. Reportedly, 70% of the ATMs in Akkayyapalem, Old Jail Road, Sirpuram, Seethammadhara, NAD Junction and Dabagardens sported the “No-Cash” boards on Tuesday. On the other hand, the few ATMs which dispensed cash, had long queues in front of them, reminscing of the post-demonetiztion days.
