Andhra University, in collaboration with Dolphin Nature Conservation Society (DNCS) will soon have a biodiversity park on campus. The DNCS had submitted a proposal to AU regarding its interest in building the park on university campus.
Vice Chancellor of AU, G Nageswara Rao and his wife Vijaya Kumari visited a biodiversity park on the premises of Rani Chandramani Devi Hospital in Chinna Waltair yesterday. The park has been developed and is maintained by DNCS. Professor UB Reddy, Department of Environmental Science; Y Venkateswara Rao, Head of the Department of Botany and SB Pandal, an Associate Professor of Botany visited the park along with the VC.
The VC and his wife spent around two hours at the park while the DNCS team explained the importance of each plant being grown at the park. The biodiversity park in AU will be developed on 3-4 acres near the Botany Department.
There is another proposal to develop a bigger park in Madhurawada on 30 acres of space. The DNCS would contribute towards putting up the plants in the parks and maintaining them. The biodiversity parks will add something unique to Andhra Pradesh.
