Decks have been cleared for the establishment of the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s (AM/NS) plant in the Anakapalle district, with the expert committee recommending environmental clearance for it.
Said to be the largest greenfield project in the country, the steel plant will be set up with an investment of Rs. 1.5 lakh crore.
To be developed in phases, the first one targets an 8.2 million tons per annum (MTPA) capacity, while it will reach 24 MTPA after the ultimate expansion.
The deal was struck for the huge project in November 2024.
The company, which started searching for suitable land in March 2025, zeroed in on Rajayyapeta in the Rambilli mandal of the Anakapalle district. The state government has allotted over 2,200 acres of land for its first phase.
The ambitious project, which is expected to generate one lakh jobs, is set to change the face of the region.
The foundation stone for the mega plant will be laid during the ICC partnership summit to be held in Visakhapatnam on 14 and 15 November. Over 3,000 delegates are likely to take part in the conference.
