In order to promote the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), Waltair Railway Division gave a fresh paint-job to one of its trains. The train is the New Delhi-bound AP Express which was flagged off with its new branding from Visakhapatnam railway station on Monday night. NMDC, a Government of India enterprise, is the single largest iron ore producer in India.
This train departed from Visakhapatnam railway station with its new branding, which was promoting NMDC. In the spirit of India celebrating its 75th Independence Day in 2022, the train also bore the logo of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, with the hashtag ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The usually red-coloured train had been given an orange paint job.
Branding has been done on two rakes of the AP Express train. One of these rakes was flagged off on Monday by NMDC Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Sumit Deb. Divisional Railway Manager Anup Kumar Satpathy, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Sudhir Kumar Gupta and other representatives of the Waltair Railway Division and NMDC were also present at the flagging off ceremony.
Train no. 22415 Visakhapatnam – New Delhi AP Express departs daily from Visakhapatnam railway station at 8:35 AM to reach New Delhi railway station the next day at 7:05 PM. It’s one of the prominent trains from Visakhapatnam to New Delhi.
This is however not the first time that train branding has been employed by Indian Railways to convey a message or promote something. With lakhs of people travelling in trains in India everyday, train branding is a very effective way to promote something on a large scale.
